Overview
Formetco’s Junior Poster Panels give billboard operators a rugged, standardized 8-sheet poster structure built from G-165 20-gauge interlocking steel sections. The interlocking panel design allows the structure to be assembled from individual sections on site, and each panel is available with or without trim, so operators can choose a bare structure or a finished, framed look depending on the market and budget for a given location.
Structure and Mounting
An 8-sheet single pole structure is available for sites where a single support pole is the preferred way to elevate the panel above grade. Beyond the single pole configuration, the panel itself can be installed as a wall mount, pole mount, or flush mount, which gives a crew flexibility to match the mounting method to what the site allows — whether that’s the side of a building, an open lot with a dedicated pole, or a flush-to-surface application.
Trim Packages
For a finished appearance, square trim packages are available in cedar, gray, white, and black, letting the panel be color-matched to nearby architecture or kept consistent with a market’s standard branding. A round corner option is also available in stainless steel, giving operators a more refined presentation where a premium look is called for. Choosing trim, or opting to run without it, is largely a matter of the look an operator wants for a given site and how the structure needs to blend into its surroundings.
Panel Dimensions
- Square corner: 6’x12′ outside dimension, with a 5’x11′ copy area once trim is installed
- Round corner: 5’x11′ outside dimension, with a 5’4″x11’4″ copy area once trim is installed
Knowing the outside dimension versus the copy area matters for planning: the outside dimension determines how much physical space the structure occupies, while the copy area is what the print shop needs to know when producing the poster itself.
Installing and Protecting the Poster
Copy can be installed from the front of the structure using cable systems or gripper bars, which lets a posting crew change out advertising copy without having to access the panel from behind — a real time-saver on a busy posting schedule. A spring-loaded tensioning lever keeps constant pressure on the cable, which is what prevents the poster from sagging or wrinkling through the full term of the posting. That constant tension matters over weeks or months of exposure to wind and weather, where a loose poster face would otherwise start to look worn well before its scheduled change-out.
Because posters are stretched behind the trim, the printed face itself is shielded from direct contact with the elements, which in turn helps preserve image quality for the length of the run. Together, the tensioning system and the protective trim are what keep a Junior Poster Panel looking sharp from the day it’s installed to the day the copy comes down.
