Overview
The Intermatic ET2825CR is a time controller built for lighting and other scheduled applications, offering an easy-to-use interface and to-the-minute scheduling capabilities for nearly any application. It’s designed to give structure owners precise control over when connected equipment turns on and off, without requiring specialized programming knowledge to set up.
Scheduling and Programming
The ET2825CR supports up to 96 set points or events, giving it enough programming depth to handle complex schedules rather than a simple daily on/off cycle. It also supports up to 50 holiday blocks with their own schedule capabilities, so exceptions to the normal schedule can be programmed in advance rather than handled manually when the date arrives. An additional mode of operation turns the ON/OFF buttons into 2-hour overrides, giving a technician on site a quick way to manually adjust operation without disturbing the underlying programmed schedule.
Power and Reliability
A 100-hour supercapacitor eliminates the need for batteries, meaning the unit’s programming and timekeeping are protected through power interruptions without a battery to periodically replace. Programming is protected further by non-volatile EEPROM memory, which holds the schedule indefinitely. The relays incorporate zero-crossing technology, a design detail that extends the life of the control by switching at the point in the AC cycle where it puts the least stress on the relay contacts.
Compatibility and Convenience
The ET2825CR features automatic input voltage selection from 120 to 277 VAC, 60 Hz, so the same controller can be installed across sites running different voltage standards without needing a separate model for each. Configurable outputs allow the control of various voltages and applications, and the unit is LED compatible, making it suitable for structures that have moved to LED lighting. A USB port makes transferring and saving of schedules easy, allowing a programmed schedule to be backed up or copied to another unit rather than re-entered by hand.
Why It Matters
For a lighting controller mounted on an outdoor structure, reliability and ease of reprogramming matter as much as the schedule itself. The supercapacitor and EEPROM memory mean programming survives power loss without maintenance, and features like the USB port and automatic voltage selection are meant to reduce the time a technician spends setting up or servicing the unit in the field. The 2-hour override mode also gives crews a simple way to handle a one-off need without reprogramming the full schedule.
