Overview

The Formetco Select Ultralight Harness is a full body harness engineered to distribute fall arrest forces across the shoulders, upper thighs, chest, and pelvis. By spreading impact loads across these four zones rather than concentrating them at a single point, the harness is designed to work with the body during a fall arrest event. Formetco builds this harness for billboard and outdoor advertising crews who spend their workday on catwalks, ladders, and structural steel, where fall protection equipment has to perform reliably every time it’s needed.

Built for Fast Visual Inspection

The harness webbing is produced in a color that facilitates remote recognition, so a ground crew or supervisor can identify at a glance whether a climber is wearing the correct gear before work begins. The stitching is finished in a contrasting color to the webbing, which makes pre-use inspection faster and more reliable — frayed threads or pulled stitches stand out clearly against the base webbing color instead of blending in. For crews required to inspect harnesses before every climb, that contrast is a practical detail that supports a habit of careful, consistent inspection.

Comfort, Mobility, and Fit

Comfort and mobility matter as much as raw strength when a harness is worn for an entire shift. The materials used in the Select Ultralight are chosen to give the wearer maximum comfort and mobility without compromising safety, so climbers can move through the reaching, climbing, and holding positions billboard work demands without the harness fighting them. Five adjusting points allow the harness to be fitted closely to the individual wearer, and its universal sizing means one harness style can be issued across a crew with varying body types.

Hardware and Connection Points

The Select Ultralight is rated for fall arrest, ascend/descend, and positioning systems, giving it flexibility across the different modes of work a climber may need on a given job. It’s built with high-tenacity polyester webbing paired with aluminum hardware, and offers a dorsal D-ring, a chest D-ring, and two D-rings on the positioning strap, giving riggers multiple attachment options depending on the task. Quick-release and pass-through buckles on the legs, chest, and torso speed up donning and doffing while keeping the harness snug during use. An impact indicator is built in so that after any fall-arrest event, the harness can be visually checked for signs it has been loaded and should be taken out of service. Padding at the shoulders, back, and legs reduces pressure points during extended wear, and the included belt with two lanyard keepers helps manage excess lanyard length so it doesn’t become a snag hazard on structure.
