Overview
The Formetco VGCS Vi-Go Cable Safety Sleeve is a fall arrest device built to travel with a climber along a fixed cable lifeline system, engaging the moment a fall occurs. It is constructed with durable, corrosion-resistant aluminum and stainless steel components, materials chosen to hold up to the outdoor, weather-exposed conditions billboard structures are typically installed in over years of repeated use.
Hands-Free Movement Along the Cable
What sets the Vi-Go apart is its uniquely-designed mechanism that automatically bypasses intermediate cable guides as the climber moves up or down the structure. Because the sleeve handles guide transitions on its own, the climber’s hands stay free for climbing rather than being needed to manually unclip and reclip the device at every guide bracket. The sleeve travels smoothly along the cable during normal ascent and descent, so it doesn’t add drag or resistance to the climb, and it locks instantly in the event of a fall, engaging the cable to arrest the fall with minimal delay.
Simple, Reliable Attachment
The Vi-Go offers easy, one-hand operation for attaching to or detaching from the cable system. There are no pins, chains, or external loose parts to lose or damage on the job — a meaningful advantage for crews working at height, where a dropped or misplaced small part can mean an interrupted climb or a lost component that has to be tracked down. This single-hand, self-contained design keeps the connection process fast and reduces the number of steps a climber has to get right before they can trust the system.
Guide System and Curve Accommodation
The automatic pass-through cable guide built into the system doesn’t just let the sleeve glide past intermediate guides — it also secures the lifeline itself, helping to prevent cable wear at guide points over repeated use. This same guide design allows the overall system to accommodate curves in the cable run, which matters on structures where the lifeline can’t always be installed in a perfectly straight line from top to bottom.
