Overview
Formetco’s Bulletin Panel Savers exist because operators asked for a fix. Water pooling in the bottom pocket of wrapped FlexFace Vinyl was rotting and rusting the bottom edge of wood and metal bulletin faces across the outdoor advertising industry. Working directly with customers who were losing panel life to this issue, Formetco committed to developing an economical, durable solution and brought the Bulletin Panel Saver to market: a purpose-built strip that creates a suitable surface for attaching Formetco Vinyl Tension Brackets while protecting the structure underneath.
Why It Matters
The bottom pocket of a wrapped bulletin face is where moisture collects and lingers. Left unaddressed, that trapped water works into the wood or metal beneath the vinyl pocket, and the panel starts to fail from the bottom up long before the rest of the face shows wear. Installing a Panel Saver at that vulnerable edge extends the life of existing panels, protecting the crew’s original investment in the structure and delaying the cost of a full panel replacement. It’s a highly recommended addition anywhere increased panel life matters.
Built for Durability
Each Panel Saver is made of strong 20 gauge G-90 galvanized sheet metal. The G-90 galvanized coating is what gives the strip its durability and resistance to the rusting that drove the product’s development in the first place, and the 20 gauge thickness provides the rigidity to hold its shape through repeated vinyl installs and removals over the life of the panel.
A Smoother Edge for Wrapping
Beyond protecting the structure, the Panel Saver creates a smooth edge for wrapping FlexFace Vinyl. A clean, consistent edge at the bottom of the panel reduces the friction and snagging points that can chew up vinyl during install, helping crews get a tighter, cleaner wrap in less time.
Fits the Field
Panel Savers are stocked in 12′ lengths, with custom sizes available upon request for faces that don’t run to standard dimensions. They’re available for use on wood panels and all types of metal panels, so crews don’t need a different fix for every structure type in the field. For crews looking to further cut down on vinyl wear and tear, Panel Savers can be ordered with or without round head stainless steel screws, which eliminate the abrasion points that standard fasteners can create against the vinyl face.
