Formetco®
Green Products Explore New Territory in Advertising Signage
Industry Leader Proves Less Is More with Sustainable Outdoor
Atlanta, Georgia May 23, 2008 – When it comes to
thinking Green, the movement in favor of environmentally sustainable
and eco-safe products has clearly reached the mainstream American
population. Visible from the automotive to fashion industries,
products supporting Green are increasingly in demand. And,
though the trend may be, in great part, consumer driven, shifts
toward environmentally responsible corporate decision making
are producing change in big industry, as well.
As a leader in outdoor advertising, Formetco® has carefully
monitored its product lines to diminish environmental impact,
and the company considers on an ongoing basis, the release
of new materials, components and procedures than can offer
substantial benefits in areas like waste reduction and energy
savings.
Vice President of Sales, Jock Gibb, insists that exercising
ethical standards in the environmental arena produces full-circle
benefits that business leaders are foolish to ignore. “Factoring
Green planning into business hasn’t sunk in as a necessity
across the board.” states Gibb. “Although ecological impact
reduction is obviously a critical topic, a lot of decision
makers are still stuck on how production changes will affect
their bottom line. Sure it takes a level of commitment, but
there are a number of heavy-hitting Fortune 500 companies
out there who’ve proven that rolling out a Green program incrementally
can actually increase profit margin. The investment works,
from an internal and external standpoint, and that’s the model
Formetco® intends to follow.”
Formetco® is currently focusing its Green efforts in reducing
several high waste areas, each already yielding clear benefits.
For example, the company’s advanced LED
Digital Billboards are built for low power consumption
with chemical and lead free, recyclable components. A reusable,
long life Quickflex™ Poster
Installation system eliminates pastes, material waste and
unnecessary service calls. And, in Formetco’s® busy Print
Service department, several major improvements to the
efficiency and operation of equipment will allow a reduction
in VOC air pollutant emissions and water and energy consumption,
as well as reduce ink and substrate waste. Also in the print
department, an upgraded online print order system will eliminate
virtually all paper usage. In addition to these substantial
improvements, the company promotes the use of TPI
EZ-Hoist® System units, which reduce crane and truck fleet
requirements for billboard locations; minimizing CO2 emissions
for the environment while maximizing expense savings for billboard
operators.
Gibb adds, “This kind of change makes good sense – More efficient,
durable products save our clients money, which preserves our
business, and we get to help protect something even bigger
in the long run. It’s a win-win all the way around.”
